Woofstock

Relaxing on a couch

6:00 p.m.
Whew! Summer is hard work!

Today, Dusty accompanied me once again to the gallery for another day of painting. This time she had some company. E brought Dusty's buddy Chinook along for the day. Side by side in their crates, they alternately slept, watched paint dry and when that got boring, they cried (particularly when we had to put the crates outside).

I took a break and had some fun with the dogs. I asked for 'sits' and 'downs.' Dusty and Chinook bobbed up and down like synchronized swimmers. It was a hoot! Dusty finally gave in to the inevitable and started chewing, her favourite standby activity. We finished up with the painting around 12:30.

After a quick trip home to change out of our paint-splattered clothes (thank goodness it was off-white. I would have hated to have sky-blue all over my clothes, right E? *grin*), we headed back to the Distillery Historic District, where the gallery is located, to attend Woofstock, a doggie festival.

It was fun. I found that Roots polar fleece dog sweater that I had been admiring back in March for over 50% off. I bought it, didn't even mull it over first. I know it's summer and it's hard to imagine 30 below, but all I have to do is look back through my winter photos to know that I'll need it.

I also bought a new harness for Dusty. I bought a cheap harness for her at PetSmart back in April, but I'm not happy with it. It doesn't fit properly and she really hates it. The new harness is made by a local Canadian company and it's a really clever design. It's called a Buddy Belt. We tried one out and Dusty seemed comfortable with it. This is her first leather collar - it's very well-made with high quality materials.

Since I didn't want to spend *all* of my hard-earned painting money on my dog, I tried to show some restraint after that! There were many, many interesting booths at the festival and MANY dogs. Dusty was clearly overwhelmed at times, as we made our way through this canine maze.

But it was fun - we're both tired. It was a beautiful day for it. Sunny and the high was 21 (70F) - a very comfortable temperature. Not too hot and it was just a bit nippy when the wind kicked up.
