New Trick!

Go, Dusty, Go!

10:00 p.m.
Boring day for the dog, since it rained off and on all day. Due to a thunderstorm, we missed our usual evening outing to the Small Dog Park.

Dusty has learned a new skill that I really like a lot - she pees on command! When I take her outside, I tell her to 'go potty' and she immediately puts nose to the ground, looks for a likely spot and goes.

I was skeptical that this could be taught, but I recently read a book about service dogs. Service dogs are taught 'better go now' as a command, so they will relieve themselves before going into public areas. Pretty cool.

She doesn't really poop on command yet, but I'm working on it.

(Geez, I think this is an example of 'things only a dog owner would think about'!)
