Fifth Agility Class

Crashed on the Papasan

8:30 p.m.
Dusty did really well in class today. I wasn't sure she was going to pay attention because she was really squirrely in the parking lot, but she settled down quickly.

She did great on the A-frame this week - didn't even hesitate. And she wasn't afraid of the teeter-totter either, which surprised me because she was so wary of it last week.

We learned a new piece of equipment - the 'dog walk.' Our instructor joked that she didn't understand why it's called a 'walk' when dogs usually run across it. Dusty walked, but it took her three tries to get all the way across. In typical fashion, once she'd successfully negotiated it, she was totally confident.

It amazes me how confident Dusty is on all of this equipment. When I started, I couldn't imagine her running through tunnels and jumping through tires. Not only does she do these things, but she loves it! She goes over the A-frame and through the tunnel when it's not even her turn. I have to put her in a sit-stay to keep her from running to the equipment before we're told to. It's neat!

After Agility, we went to work. Dusty was very, very good in her crate and didn't make a sound all day. I'm really proud of her - for an almost 8-month-old puppy, she's doing great!
