Jukebox sighting!

It's a fine day to chew!

7:00 p.m.
Something very interesting happened to us today.

We were walking back from the subway station after a lovely afternoon at High Park when a woman literally dashed across the street toward us. As she jogged over to me, her eyes were wide. "Can I ask you about your miniature schnauzer?"

She told me that her dog, a mini named Winston had died the previous December at the ripe age of 15 years. She said that my dog was a dead ringer for Winston. After I had expressed sympathy for her loss, she asked me who my breeder was. When I told her 'Jukebox,' her jaw dropped.

"That's where Winston was bred!" she said.

Turns out, her entire family had bought dogs from Jukebox around the same time - five in total. Some have passed away, while others are still alive. All of the dogs lived until they were 12-15 years old (this is good to hear; I'm hoping that Dusty will be as long-lived).

Obviously, Jukebox dogs have a certain look to them (I even took Dusty over to her car so her little girls could have a look at the Winston-look-alike). They also have good dispositions, she noted, and I confirmed this.

She wasn't even sure if Jukebox was still around after all these years and I assured her that Hazel is still breeding pups. I have a feeling a certain family will be getting a new Jukebox puppy soon! *smile*

Dusty had a lot of crate time today, as I was running errands. At High Park, we worked on some of the 'agility equipment' and as we walked back through our neighbourhood, we worked on walking on the right. I find that Dusty is a lot more comfortable with this if I give her the cue 'right' (otherwise, she tends to gradually veer over to the left).
