8:00 p.m.
There's an extremely tired puppy laying in my lap as I write this - and she's fast asleep.
We had a very exciting afternoon. It started out with a trip to PetSmart with E and her dog Chinook. Next week, I'll be working some hours at the gallery and I wanted another crate and dog bed for Dusty to use while she's there (the gallery is dog-friendly and I'll be bringing her to work with me).
I got the same crate as the one we keep at home so she'll be comfortable and at ease with it. I've saved some brand-new toys for use at work. I'm hoping that Dusty will spend much of the workday sleeping (and that she'll be very, very nice to the customers). I'm very interested to see how this goes!
Of course, since I was at PetSmart and my money just automatically evaporates there, I ended up with a new toy (a tug rope - for Dusty's favourite new game) and some dog treats. And a new leash - a long one with clips on each end - it's convertable to a number of different uses. Nifty!
Lately, I've found PetSmart to be overwhelming and chaotic for both of us - the sheer chaos of people and dogs and too much to see. I'm sure PetSmart hasn't changed - Dusty has just become bolder and more determined in exploring the place, so she requires more of my attention. I don't enjoy our visits there like I used to, and of course today I was very busy with shopping.
To complicate matters, Dusty had two accidents in the store, so I was kept very busy cleaning up after her. *sigh* I think she smells the other dogs and decides that PetSmart is just a big indoor dog park.
After we finished our shopping, E invited us to go to High Park. Dusty was very excited when she realised that we had arrived in her Favourite Place in the Whole World (albeit via a different mode of transportation). She really likes playing with Chinook, and got lots of exercise today.
She also made a new friend, Cosmo, who is a schnauzer/poodle mix. We saw two dachsund puppies and an australian shepard puppy. Dog Hill was very busy.
Dusty slept all the way home and then had her bath, so she's pretty much wiped out. I expect she'll be asleep for most of the evening!
