Hanging out on the front stoop
10:00 a.m.
It's going to be a beautiful day today! In a few minutes, we're going for a long walk! (I have a very pleading set of eyes gazing up at me right now...).
The last two weeks of scrapbooks are up and ready for viewing. Go see 19 Weeks and 20 Weeks on the photos page.
11:00 p.m.
We had a great day!
Around lunchtime, we went for a long walk around the neighbourhood. As we passed my favourite cafe, I thought it would be nice to have lunch there. The patio was open, so I took a chance and stepped in. I put Dusty in a down-stay next to my chair and ordered a meal.
For nearly an hour, Dusty sat quietly on the towel I had laid down. She played with her ball. She stood up a few times, but settled down again when I spoke to her. She was being so good, I even had a latte and read my book for awhile. She did *so* well. I'm proud of her!
In the afternoon, we headed to High Park. I wanted to give Dusty a chance to play after her great behaviour at the cafe. We started out on a grassy hill. We played ball and then I relaxed and enjoyed the sunshine while Dusty ran around.
Many of the trails we usually walk were very muddy, so we ranged a bit further into the park and found some trails on higher ground - they were dry. Dusty had a great time exploring the new territory.
While we were wandering around the woods, we had an 'only in Canada' moment. As I was marvelling at the snow - still on the ground in mid-April - I heard music coming from the trees. It was a bagpipe!
After about an hour, we finished our exploration of the trails and walked back down to the access road. Five minutes later, we ran into E and her dog Chinook! So we walked backed around toward Dog Hill and they showed us still more trails we didn't know about!
Dusty was so happy and I really enjoyed myself.
