She didn't stand still very much. What a wild dog!
10:00 a.m.
An exhausted puppy is sleeping on the floor at my feet. I think last night's excursion into High Park wore her out.
We headed over to Chinook's house around 5:30 and then drove over to High Park in Chinook's car (okay, the car belongs to his human, but it's well-marked with Chinook's hair).
High Park was amazing! It's sort of Toronto's 'central park' but much of it is wilderness and woods. We went to 'Dog Hill' and played with the other dogs for awhile, though Chinook and Dusty mainly played with each other. It wasn't too bad of a mismatch, even though Chinook is much bigger than Dusty.
Near Dog Hill, there are a bunch of off-leash trails. It was amazing and Dusty was in heaven the whole time! She just loved running off into the woods like a wild dog and sniffing everything in sight.
At one point, she came back to me whining and rubbing her face. A bunch of burrs has become lodged in her little schnauzer beard and she couldn't even open her mouth! I sat down on the trail and worked most of them out. A man approached me and offered me a comb - I thought he was pulling my leg, but he really did have one and it helped a lot.
Back at Dog Hill, Dusty played with a little gray dog about her size, but I could tell she was getting tired. She slept all the way home and was very calm for her bath. I put her in her crate and she slept soundly all night.
Today has been rainy and cool - the temperture really dropped over the past 24 hours. Tomorrow, there are supposed to be flurries! *sigh* I can't wait until spring is here for good!
