Getting aquainted with the birdie. Chippie is completely unafraid of Dusty.
7:00 p.m.
The pup has discovered the joy of sleeping on the bed with me. Not at night - she still sleeps in her crate then. But I've been feeling under the weather this week and I spent much of the day in bed, resting.
Dusty slept calmy and sweetly beside me. We even took a little nap together. In the evening, I brought the bird over and Dusty spent over a half-hour just watching Chippie. This is quite a feat for a dog with a two-second attention span!!
Today, we played with the IQube I bought for her the other day at the petstore (see yesterday's photo). The IQube is a cloth cube with holes in each side and it's filled with five plush balls of different colours (probably more for the benefit of the humans than the dogs, since dogs are colour-blind).
Dusty understands that there are balls inside the cube and when she stops chewing on the cube long enough to really think about it, she'll try to get the balls out. (obviously, this is a toy that requires supervision).
Dusty has already figured out that she needs to put her snoot in the hole in order to grab a ball. What she hasn't yet figured out is how to hold the cube down with her paws as she's doing this, in order to get the ball out of the cube.
She runs around the apartment frantically, with the cube attached to her head. It's hilarious. I wonder how long it will take for her to puzzle this out?
