Puppy Heaven - the toy aisle at PetSmart. (the guinea pigs are 'toys' too...)
2:30 p.m.
As I write this, a very exhausted puppy is sleeping in my lap. No doubt, she'll sleep most of the afternoon.
I had planned to run errands today because running errands fit very nicely in my schedule. What I hadn't planned for was another Big Snowstorm. Despite this setback, I stubbornly moved forward with my schedule.
Dusty and I went to a short meeting (she travelled in her carrier, but got lots of attention from the office staff before settling down for a nap). Next, we rode the subway up to Eglington and made a foray to the PetSmart.
We literally had the place to ourselves!!! We walked up and down the aisles, played with the toys and fitted Dusty for a new collar.
Yes, I finally bought her a new collar. She hasn't even come close to outgrowing the baby collar, but the other day the buckle slipped and the whole thing came off. I'm scared that this will happen when we're out in the front yard - that's too close for my comfort and starting next week, we'll be going for walks too!
I bought her a new red collar with the plastic snap and also got a dog tag with our phone number on it. And Dusty picked out a few new toys too! This will give me a chance to wash some of the other toys and cycle them through the toy box.
A note to my mom, who I know reads this:
Did you know that most of the dog toys now have a velcro opening on the back so you can get the squeaker out before you launder the toys? How cool is that? ;-)
