Our Puppy of Socks

She thinks she's 'helping' when she does this.

7:30 p.m.
As I write this, rain is pouring down outside. I've been sneaking occasional peaks at the problem drain in our stairwell (the one that gets clogged up and eventually floods the kitchen). So far, so good (meaning, it's not a swimming pool yet, so no flooding. Knock on wood!).

Dusty is asleep - REALLY asleep! She's so asleep that when I left the apartment to go check the stairwell, she didn't even notice that I had gone. Right now, her little feet are twitching. She must be dreaming...

She had a sort of stressful day. In the afternoon, I did a lot of work around the house, outside of our apartment. I used this as an opportunity to practise leaving Dusty alone (outside her crate!) for short periods. She did well, but it was hard on her. Each time I left, she stayed at the door, at full attention and she didn't move a muscle until I came back. She cried once or twice, but mainly waited. Good dog!

My junk-removal campaign continued today. I went through my clothes. Dusty spent a lot of time laying in piles of clothes with special attention paid to socks - noto to chew, but to lay her head on. They apparently make great 'puppy pillows.'
