There's no such thing as 'too many' toys!
10:30 p.m.
*yawn* We had a very active day. Since it's supposed to be rainy for the next few days, I took Dusty out to High Park for over three hours today. We walked all the trails and over to the goose pond so she could stare at the 'giant floating pidgeons' (I swear that's what she thinks they are). She was exhausted when we finally left and slept soundly on the subway ride home, then she took a long nap.
We met up with the Small Dog Posse at 5:30 for play session. Dusty had to take a 'time out' because she was playing too roughly with one of her little friends. She literally grabbed the Pug by the scruff of the neck and was *dragging* her. Of course, the Pug is so good natured that she didn't make a peep, but I took Dusty away and made her wait for five minutes before playing again. I really don't know what's up with that.
There was a really different gang out at the dog park tonight. I met several new dogs and heard rumours of a new miniature schnauzer puppy in the neighbourhood.
And there was this (pretty much un-dog-related, as it happens):
As we were standing around talking, a really, REALLY good looking guy walked up to us, smiled at ME and said "Hi, I heard about your dog."
*gulp* I'm thinking to myself 'Gosh, I don't know what he heard about her, but that's perfectly okay if it means he's going to smile at me.'
Good Looking Guy says "I have a miniature schnauzer too, a bit older than yours."
And I'm nodding dumbly, with a goofy grin on my face and thinking 'He likes miniature schnauzers. This is so cool!! This can't be happening to me...' So we chat a bit about Dusty and I coax her over with some food so he can look at her.
Then, he says he has to go and mentions something about his girlfriend. That's when I think to myself 'Damn!' Ahhhh...Just when I thought this dogpark thing was producing social dividends.
After he left, one of my friends (both had been observing this scene with great amusement) asked "Did I hear him refer to his partner as 'my sweetheart'? " Yes, we agreed, he did. And we all sighed deeply because this is just too *sweet* and nice and perfect.
"It's just unfair" I grumbled.
"All the good ones are taken" my friend offered.
No kidding.
