Business Dog

Gettin' down to business

9:00 p.m.
Dusty attended her very first business meeting today.

Sometime this summer (if they ever finish contruction), I'm going to be working at a downtown gallery. The gallery owners are dog friendly and have one dog of their own (and soon-to-be two; they're getting a puppy). Dusty will be welcome to come to work with me! But it gets better...

The gallery is located in a historic district and I had been told that the developers were *very* dog-friendly, but that didn't really sink in until today. I was torn over attending a meeting in the afternoon, but didn't want to leave Dusty behind again because she had been alone for most of the morning. The gallery owners said to 'bring her' so I assumed that the meeting would be in our construction space.

I brought Dusty in the sherpa bag, but imagine my surprise when I realised that our meeting was in an office! Yikes! Fortunately, this wasn't a problem. The guys we were meeting with offered to close the door so Dusty could wander around without encountering any of *their* office dogs.

She spent most of her time exploring the room, turning up her nose at anyone who tried to pet her, just like the snob she is and sitting in my lap listening attentively.

Her only gaff was when she attempted to make a call on the speaker phone. You know, it took me a week to learn how to use the speaker phone at my previous job and my dog figured it out in 3 seconds flat!

The meeting paused until I pushed the 'release' button on the phone and explained to Dusty that if she needed to make a call, she should step outside and use the cell.
