Rain, rain go away

9:00 a.m.
Lately, we've been going for a walk almost as soon as we get up in the morning. This morning, Dusty was determined that we should go on our walk, but I knew something she didn't: it's raining.

So I put on my yellow raincoat, grabbed an umbrella, tucked the pup under my arm and headed outside.

I put her on the ground and she enthusiastically ran a few metres, then stopped dead in her tracks, turned around and ran up the front steps to the porch, which is covered. There, she sat down and, looking more than a bit miffed, gave me an extremely indignant look. I laughed at her.

I stayed out on the lawn in the pouring rain, occasionally calling her name. A few times, she ran down the steps and across the lawn to sit at my feet. She would stay there for a few seconds, then run back up to the porch.

The rain *will* eventually go away - it's supposed to be nice this afternoon. I hope Dusty's spinchter can hold up for that long!

10:00 p.m.
We already phoned Grandma this morning to say "Happy Mothers' Day" but I thought we'd say it here as well: "Woof, woofwoof woof woof!"

The rain cleared up in the afternoon. As soon as the sun came out, we raced to the door for walkies. Dusty and I had an incredibly good walk! But it clouded up again, got cold and looked stormy, so we went back inside.

A short time later, the sun came out *again* and thrilled with our luck, I urged Dusty to go for another walk with me - she didn't need a lot of urging. We walked farther and longer than we ever had before and she only tugged on the leash about four times. She was so good - I was astounded and proud.
