Hide-and-go-seek

9:00 p.m.
Gorgeous day. Dusty and I ran errands in the morning. She went to the coinwash for the very first time and I put her in a 'sit-stay' while I put clothes in the washers. She also walked back with me to put the clothes in the dryers, then she took a nap. Lucky dog! I had to go back again and fold laundry! ;-)

We headed to High Park in the afternoon. Dusty was full of energy and had a wonderful time. At home, we sometimes play hide-and-go-seek, with Dusty in a sit-stay until I call her. In the woods, she wandered off so I hid behind a tree and called her name. She was delighted when she found me.

A few minutes later, she sat on the trail and very deliberately turned her head away from me. I slipped behind a tree. She looked around for me, I callled her...and you get the idea. She's a funny, smart dog!

I'm teaching her a new trick. I hung a small bell on the front door and I encourage her to ring it just before we go out. I think she is very close to understanding the concept.
