This is Dusty's old favourite toy - the bear.
It's still a good stand-by and her favourite toy to sleep with.
8:00 p.m.
I went grocery shopping today. For the past two days, I've been running a lot of errands and Dusty has been having a lot of 'crate time.' She's done really well and I wanted to get her a treat. Also, I thought it would be fun to get something for my funny little Valentine for the holiday on Friday.
Baby toys are often a good choice for dogs because they don't have any small pieces that can be chewed off and swallowed. I was happy to find a really nice stuffed dog - pink with yellow ears.
You know, I used to think my mother was nuts when she bought her dog new toys. I always thought that the dog probably didn't know the difference. Well, let me tell ya, when I gave Dusty this toy several things became very clear:
- a) Dusty knew that this was a *new* toy
b) Dusty knew on no uncertain terms that this toy was intended for her
c) Dusty LOVED the new toy
For two hours tonight, she played with nothing else. With the new toy in her mouth, she raced from one end of the apartment to the other, over and over and over again. Then, with the toy still in her mouth, she collapsed in exhaustion.
Needless to say, I stand corrected.
