The Door

Playing in the park with Ginger.

11:00 p.m.
(due to early morning stupidity, I wrote over this entry. Below, you'll find a summary of what I think I wrote. Erg.)

Dusty has a new buddy in the park, actually a few of them (her friendships seem to shift and go through phases). Lately, she's been playing with Ginger a lot. She didn't used to like Ginger as much, but now it's all Ginger all the time. And Ruby. She loves Ruby too - not as much as Ginger, but if she isn't in the park, Ruby is Dusty's choice.

Another new development is the door. Since we moved into the new place, Dusty hasn't had any accidents, but I've been very careful to take her out frequently and she's been in the crate more than usual.

The other day, she went to the door and I wondered if it was a fluke. Today, she went to the door and I waited to see what she would do. She walked over to me, looked up at me plaintively, then walked back to the door and sat there definitively. She clearly understands that the door is the way to get outside to potty. This is great news!

Sometimes I wonder what she must think of the elevator. Does she know why we go in the little room before we go outside or to go back to our apartment? The subway must be strange to her too, come to think of it. It would be fascinating to know what my dog is thinking!
