Sick Puppy

Christmas Dog

9:30 p.m.
Dusty wasn't feeling well this morning - she was as sick as I've ever seen her. The thing that really bothers me is that I have no idea why. She threw up the night before last and last night she threw up again. I had a look at the 'output' and it was the usual assortment of stick fragments and twigs.

In the morning, I noticed that she was acting strangely. You know, I've always worried that if she was really sick, I wouldn't know it. Well, there was no doubt because she was really acting *different*. In fact, it didn't take me long to figure out which part of her body was bothering her - she kept looking down at her stomach like she was thinking "What the heck?!" She even sat differently.

She wouldn't walk down the hall to the elevator herself - I had to carry her. She wouldn't walk out to the front lawn herself - again, I had to carry her. Fortunately, she was able to go potty and she was eager for her treat. Back inside, though, she sat in her crate and trembled and a few minutes later, she threw up again. I started thinking about the emergency vet.

Finally, she crawled back in her crate and settled down, looked like she was going to take a nap. So I let her sleep. A few hours later, she bounced out of the crate as good as new, ready for her lunch.

I'm relieved that she's feeling better. But at the same time, I'm still worried. Geez, I watch her like a hawk in the park, but obviously I don't watch her closely enough. No more sticks for Dusty!

Anyways, in the interest of not torturing my dog anymore than necessary, I didn't subject her to the camera today - there's a photo of christmas decor instead.
