That's one cold nose!
10:30 p.m.
Today was election day and I volunteered for the Olivia Chow campaign (and by extension, the David Miller campaign) all day. In the morning, Dusty stayed home in her crate while I sat in the campaign office making zillions of phone calls.
In the afternoon, Dusty got into politics too. She came with me as I did outdoor 'scrutineering' (going door to door, making sure our confirmed supporters get to the polls). First lesson: Barking at the supporters won't help win votes. Also, peeing on the lawn of supporters is probably not such a good idea either! ;-)
For the most part, Dusty was really good and people really got a kick out of seeing her at their door. Passers-by stopped me to ask if Dusty was helping 'get out the vote.'
I think Dusty was getting tired near the end, though. She started whining a bit whenever we went to another door. For awhile, she was trying to go up every single sidewalk, as if wanting to get it over and done with. And it was cold. We went home a half-hour before the polls closed.
All of our hard work (and that of many, many other people) sure paid off: all of our candidates won!
