Dusty waits patiently for me to leave
so she can have her Kong.

We met a new dog at the Small Dog Park tonight. She is a King Charles Spaniel and no-one knows her name because she was abandoned in the park last night. Someone in the neighbourhood noticed that she was alone. Four hours later, she was still alone - and cold and very afraid.
A local family took her in for the time being. A visit to the vet's revealed some new information. She's about 5 years old, has a heart murmur, a few breed-related medical issues, but she has no identifying information: no tags, no tatoo, no microchip. She desperately needed her toenails clipped. The next trip will be to a groomer - her hair is horribly matted.
It's a huge mystery, how she came to be shivering in our park. Some people think she may belong to a housebound elderly person. I hope she belongs to someone. It's better than the alternative: someone abadoned this sweet, gentle creature in a park in 6 degree weather.
Yesterday, she was a celebrity - everyone wanted to pet her and tell her what a good dog she was. Last night, she politely went to the door to let her saviours know that she needed to go potty. This morning, they found her cuddled next to their four-year-old son. He's already named her: 'Lost-and-Found'
If she's truly lost her old home, I think she's found a new one.
