Time to Play!

Dusty annoints Foo her new-favourite playmate

8:00 p.m.
My mother reminded me that the summer is soon going to be drawing to a close. With the garage sale over and the move postponed to early September, it would make sense for us to make the most of these remaining weeks of freedom and greenery.

I took Dusty to High Park in the morning, after a brief romp in the neighbourhood park with her buddy Foo. The Small Dog Posse has disbanded, at least for the morning session (and I've been too busy to go to the Small Dog park in the evening). Dusty and I still go out to play, but unless one of her big-dog-friends are out, we don't stay for long.

High Park was beautiful, as always. I let Dusty go all out, running through the grass and the bushes (and bracing myself for a tangle of fur later on). We walked around the allottment gardens and admired the ripening tomatos, I shot a few photos for my photoblog and we just soaked up the late summer goodness.

The air smelled spicey and the birds were noisy. In High Park, every season has its gifts, and in late summer the leaves are heavy and vines fall down everywhere. The air is hot and pungent and moisture-laden. The gentle sway of the trees seems to whisper: "Sleep, sleep..."

I didn't, but Dusty did - all afternoon while I ran some errands.
